GTEC Warns Public Against 50 Unaccredited Tertiary Institutions

The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has released a list of 50 tertiary institutions that are not recognized by the Commission, cautioning the public to verify accreditation before enrolling.

According to the publication, the United States tops the list with 24 unaccredited institutions, followed by Ghana with five, and India with four. Other countries mentioned include Italy, Costa Rica, Germany, Nigeria, and the United Kingdom.

GTEC emphasized that qualifications obtained from these institutions will not be accepted for academic or professional purposes in Ghana.

The Commission urged prospective students and parents to consult its official channels to confirm the accreditation status of any institution before making enrollment decisions.

This move aims to protect students from investing in education programs that lack legitimacy and to uphold the standards of Ghana’s tertiary education system.
